Boise West End Neighborhood
The North Boise, West End neighborhood is located West of the Historic Boise North End. The West End is situated with State St. on its Eastern side and the Boise River on its Western side. The West End is home to the 55-acre Ester Simplot Park. In 2012 the river recreation and water surfing park were dedicated, and a year later Whitewater Park Boulevard was opened. Boise’s West End was officially established in 1903 with its first recorded plat. Two years later Fairview Avenue was paved, and a year after that, the Coast Lumber Company built its mill just off the new street near the river. Boise annexed the area in 1912, and it grew as an industrial core well into the 1920s and 30s.
