Adjoining townhouses. These can come in the form of a duplex (two attached homes, one lot) or adjoining townhouses (two attached homes, two lots).

Guest houses. Referred to in Idaho by the very un-catchy name of "accessory dwelling units." Guest houses (two detached homes, one lot) are relatively rare, but 2019 zoning changes should make Boise homes for sale with guest houses a little more common.

Build-to-suit.  With the steady increase in demand for multigenerational homes, builders and designers are offering more floor plans with separate living spaces than ever. Thoughtfully designed new construction provide features you would normally only see in a separate residence; two kitchens, living rooms, and even garages.
